Russia said that the Philippines was “a great priority” in the delivery of Gamaleya Research Institute’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine doses.
In a report on CNN Philippines, Russia had committed the first delivery of Gamaleya’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine doses in the first half of April 2021.
Russia noted that the Philippines was “a great priority” amidst the demand for the COVID-19 vaccine.
In an interview on CNN Philippines’ News Night, Russian Direct Investment Fund CEO Kirill Dmitriev said that they would start the first shipment of Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine doses in the first half of April 2021, adding that they’re already registered in 52 nations worldwide.
Dmitriev also said that there’s definitely great demand for Gamaleya’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine but the Philippines was “a great priority” for them.
“We will start the first shipment in the first half of April and we are already registered in 52 nations around the world. There is definitely great demand for Sputnik V but [the] Philippines is a great priority for us,” Dmitriev said.

Moreover, Dmitriev gave assurances they would be able to produce enough COVID-19 vaccine doses in order to supply the needs of the country’s inoculation program, adding that they recently had a partnership that would enable them to produce another 200 million COVID-19 vaccine doses this year.
On Friday, vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said during the Presidential press briefing that the Philippine government was planning to negotiate with Russia’s Gamaleya Research Institute in order to procure three million Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine doses by April.
