The coming of the Christian faith to the Philippines was a gift from God, according to Cardinal Tagle.
Filipino Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle on Sunday said that the coming of the Christian faith to the Philippines was a gift from God.
On Sunday, Cardinal Tagle said in his message during a Mass at the St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome that the coming of Christian faith to the Philippines was God’s gift and the fact that the Christian faith was received by the majority of the people who gave it a Filipino character was also a gift of God.
Cardinal Tagle also said that the Philippines had the “third-largest number of Catholics in the world”. According to Cardinal Tagle, the enduring faith of Filipinos can be attributed to God’s love, mercy, and fidelity.

As a gift, Cardinal Tagle said that Christian faith must continue being a gift by being shared and that was what Filipino migrants were doing in different parts of the world.
“If it is kept for itself it ceases to be a gift. By God’s mysterious design the gift of faith we receive is now being shared by the millions of Christian Filipino migrants in different parts of the world. We pray that through our Filipino migrants the name of Jesus, the beauty of the Church, the mercy and joy of God may reach the ends of the Earth,” Cardinal Tagle said.
