Freddie Aguilar is said to be rooting for Senator Manny Pacquiao to run for president in the upcoming elections.
The legendary hitmaker has released a new version of the song “Bayan Ko” focusing no longer on the Philippines but the legislator.
The said song which was sent to Abante showed the events attended by the senator, as well as the projects he has launched.
In the chorus portion of the song, he can be heard singing: “Si Manny Pacquiao ay naririto, handang tulungan ang mga tao. Dahil siya ay nanggaling sa hirap, ramdam niya ang mga kapus-palad.”
“Si Manny ang ating hinihintay, hangarin niya sa atin ay tunay. Tayo’y magkaisa para sa ating tagumpay,” he added.
In the last part of the song, a logo with the letters “M” and “P” can be seen.
Last January, Freddie Aguilar released a new single wherein he stated that his ideal president is someone who possessed qualities such as “may utak, may paninindigan, tunay na leader, may bayag at matapang, may prinsipyo” and “may puso at damdamin sa tao.”
Freddie was one of President Rodrigo Duterte’s allies who ran in the 2016 senatorial race but lost.
