Inquirer reported that Senator Go told reporters in an interview after the turnover of a fire truck and a government to cooperatives in Kibawe, Bukidnon that the media can be considered as a “very important sector of society” as they’re also like frontliners because it’s them who brought the news to the public.

As such, Senator Go said that the media should also be given priority once the safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines were available so that they can continue with their work of covering and bringing news to the public.

Meanwhile, Senator Go said that he would be willing to be inoculated in public along with President Rodrigo Duterte in order to allay the fears of the public over the safety and efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Senator Go said in an earlier statement that President Duterte would get inoculated in public on the approval of his physician, adding that the President would also have to discuss with the physician which COVID-19 vaccine would be suitable for him.

As part of the effort in order to build public confidence in the COVID-19 vaccines, Senator Go delivered his co-sponsorship speech on Senate Bill No. 2057, which would establish an “indemnification fund” for vaccine recipients who might develop a negative reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine.

Senator Go also noted that pharmaceutical companies required such a fund before supplying the Philippine government with COVID-19 vaccines in order to protect themselves from possible damage suits.

According to vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr., the vaccination could start between late February or early March, when the first batch of COVID-19 vaccine doses was expected to arrive in the country.
