The FDA was checking on the alleged arrival of the Moderna vaccine in the Philippines.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday said that the agency was checking on reports that the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine had allegedly arrived in the Philippines.
This, as the agency disclosed that Moderna may apply for an emergency use authorization (EUA) of its COVID-19 vaccine in the Philippines next week.
In a text message to Inquirer, FDA Director-General Eric Domingo said that they didn’t have information yet on which port in the Philippines the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines were supposedly delivered.
“We have no info on it. Our enforcement unit is still checking the reports,” Domingo said.
Domingo’s message to Inquirer came as he warned the public against counterfeit or fake Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in the Philippines.
According to Domingo, any rumored Moderna COVID-19 vaccine doses available in the country were “likely to be counterfeit”.

To date, only COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech and AstraZeneca-Oxford have so far secured an emergency use authorization in the Philippines, which was being required for available COVID-19 vaccines to be legally administered in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, the Philippines was set to receive 20 million COVID-19 vaccine doses from Moderna, with Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Romualdez earlier saying that the COVID-19 vaccines from Moderna may be delivered in mid-2021.
