Malacañang Palace Declares January 23 as Special Holiday in Bulacan
WALANG PASOK – Malacañang Palace has declared January 23, 2021 as a special holiday in the province of Bulacan.
On Tuesday (January 19, 2021), Malacañang Palace has issued Proclamation 1077 declaring January 23, 2021 (Saturday) as a special non-working holiday in observance of the founding anniversary of the First Philippine Republic, which happened in the province.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed the proclamation to give Bulaceños the full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies. However, people must observe the health protocols and other safety measures.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the province of Bulacan be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies, subject to community quarantine, social distancing, and other public health measures,” the proclamation read.
On January 23, 1899, the Philippines establish its First Republic in Malolos, Bulacan. The date also marks the inauguration of the country’s first president Emilio Aguinaldo.
The Philippine Revolution has been culminated by Malolos Republic, which starts with the Katipunan. It also leads to the formation of the First Constitution and Republican Government of Asia.
