Here’s the message of President Duterte for MMFF 2020
President Rodrigo Duterte has aired a message about the highly anticipated Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2020 as it goes online amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the president via a taped message, the annual film fest “has given the Filipino audience a time to enjoy the holidays with their family and friends in the cinemas.”
He added that the MMFF “showcases the best Filipino film-making and how it compares with the rest of the world” at the same time “has given us memorable films that convey the richness of our culture and heritage.”
“May the festival continue to be a beacon of hope for advancement of Philippine cinema and for growth as a nation,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, in this year’s local film fest, 10 movies will showcase different genres from action, comedy, horror, fantasy, and romance.
Among the official entries are; Coming Home, Fan Girl, Isa Pang Bahaghari, Magikland, Mang Kepweng, Pakboys Takusa, Suarez: The Healing Priest, Tagpuan, The Boy Foretold by the Stars, and The Missing.

MMFF 2020 will premiere online starting December 25 (Christmas Day) via film producer Dondon Monteverde’s Upstream and Globe Telecom’s GMovies.
It will be the first edition of the festival organized by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to be held online.
