In a statement, Panelo said: “I am not peddling false news. Ang mali ko is nag-react ako on the basis of an information which I would not even say false, [but] not totally correct.”

He added: “Kasi sabi ng report kay Sec. Delfin Lorenzana, ‘Sir, mayroong pong mga relief goods na under the care of VP Leni na isinakay din doon sa relief goods na dinala sa Catanduanes.”

The Office of the Vice President thru Attorney Ibarra Gutierrez, the spokesperson of Leni Robredo also denied that the latter used a government-owned C130 plane in her relief operations.

According to Gutierrez, it is “saddening” that a government official like Panelo would even lie while many are in need of help amid distress faced by Filipinos due to recent calamities.

“Nakakalungkot lang, tumutulong si Vice President Leni sa mga tinamaan ng bagyo at baha… imbes na suporta, paninira at kasinungalingan ang binabato,” Gutierrez said.

“Ano ba ang mga ito, lingkod bayan o troll?” he asked.

On Tuesday, Leni Robredo went to Polilio Island in the province of Quezon to provide relief among victims of typhoon.

But before visiting Polilio Island, the vice president and her staff went to Catanduanes, Albay, Camarines Sur, Marikina City, Rizal, Cagayan and Isabela, whihc were also devastated by typhoon to bring aid.

The Office of the Vice President has been giving various goods such as ready-to-eat meals, canned goods, rice and to name a few to the evacuees affected by the recent typhoons.
