The comedian remains on life support after septic shock and pneumonia
Comedian Gil Morales, better known as Ate Gay, is in critical condition after suffering a stroke that damaged the right side of his brain, his family said in an official medical update posted on Facebook.
According to the family, Ate Gay was rushed to the Asian Hospital and Medical Center on October 17 after having difficulty breathing. They chose the hospital because it was where he had earlier received his cancer treatment.

His doctors found that he had septic shock and acute respiratory failure secondary to pneumonia, a severe infection that affected his breathing and blood circulation. He was placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for close treatment and monitoring.
The family said that, based on the latest explanation from his attending physicians, Ate Gay had pulled through the first septic shock. However, on October 29, they learned that he had suffered a stroke.
“Sa kasalukuyan, umaasa pa rin siya sa mga life-support machine upang masuportahan ang mahahalagang function ng kanyang katawan. Nananatili pong kritikal at guarded ang kanyang kondisyon,” the statement read. (He still relies on life-support machines to support his body’s vital functions. His condition remains critical and guarded.)
The family also shared that they had considered moving him to another hospital because of mounting medical bills, but his doctors advised that he stay in the ICU given his condition.
Ate Gay has been open about his health battle. In July 2026, he revealed that he was still undergoing CyberKnife treatment and immunotherapy and was not yet cancer-free.
Fans and fellow entertainers have been sending prayers and messages of support for the comedian as his family asks for continued prayers for his recovery.
