De La Salle University Urges Truth and Accountability Amid Senate Issues
De La Salle University (DLSU) has expressed concern over the ongoing issues involving the Philippine Senate, stating that the institution appears to be experiencing a gradual decline in public trust and credibility. In a statement released by university leaders, DLSU called for truth, justice, accountability, and ethical public service amid the controversies affecting the upper chamber of Congress.
The university raised concern over recent developments in the Senate, including what it described as questionable actions perceived to favor a certain senator. It also questioned the current state of democratic institutions in the country, asking whether these bodies are still effectively serving justice and the public interest, or if they are already being used to protect those in positions of authority.
DLSU further criticized what it described as troubling and disorderly incidents within the Senate, stating that such events undermine the dignity of the institution and weaken public confidence in government processes.

The university urged students, alumni, and citizens not to remain silent or indifferent in the face of corruption, abuse of power, and the continued weakening of democratic systems. It emphasized the importance of public awareness and engagement, particularly as ordinary citizens and vulnerable sectors are the ones most affected by the consequences of poor governance.

It also called on its graduates serving in government to remain faithful to the values of integrity and responsible public service instilled through their education. The university encouraged them to uphold honesty, accountability, and a strong commitment to serving the public.
Quoting the late human rights lawyer and fellow Lasallian Jose “Ka Pepe” Diokno, the statement reiterated that government service should be regarded as service to the nation and its people, rather than a means for personal gain. The message highlighted the importance of prioritizing public welfare over personal or political interests.
