Angel Locsin Defends Joaquin Amid “Nepo Baby” Criticism
ANGEL LOCSIN – The actress spoke out against negative comments on social media directed at her stepson, Joaquin Arce.
Joaquin, the son of her husband Neil Arce, is currently inside the famous house of Pinoy Big Brother as one of the Ultimate 8 finalists in the Celebrity Collab 2.0 edition. Since he entered the competition and as the finale approaches, Angel has consistently shown her full support for him. However, she was hurt after seeing several online users label Joaquin a “nepo baby,” implying that he unfairly benefits from family connections.
Angel admitted that she rarely uses social media, which is why she was surprised to read the harsh comments. She questioned why Joaquin was being criticized simply because she is married to his father. For her, it is unfair to judge him based on assumptions about privilege. She shared that she worked hard to build her career from the ground up, recalling how she used to commute by jeepney and bus just to attend tapings. She made it clear that her success did not come from illegal means or special favors, but from years of dedication and honest work.
She also expressed frustration toward those spreading negativity, saying that such bitterness only reflects poorly on them. Angel emphasized that if Joaquin truly wanted to rely on her name, he could have easily asked her for a project in show business. Instead, he chose to audition for Pinoy Big Brother on his own, proving that he wanted to earn his place through his own efforts. For her, that decision alone shows his desire to stand independently.
Despite the criticism, Angel remains firm in supporting Joaquin. She even mentioned that she has been voting for him throughout his journey in the competition and is willing to increase her support if the bashing continues.
