After Two Years, Catriona Gray Opens Up About Canceled Engagement
CATRIONA GRAY – The Miss Universe 2018 finally spoke out about her canceled engagement with Sam Milby after more than two years, sharing the personal reasons behind their breakup in a YouTube interview with Karen Davila on February 12, 2026. She revealed that just a few months after Sam proposed, he admitted he was not ready for marriage, leaving her shocked and deeply hurt.
Despite the surprise, Catriona tried to make the relationship work and was willing to adjust and compromise for the sake of love. Over time, however, she realized that she was the only one fully committed and certain about their future together. Letting go was extremely difficult, especially since she loved Sam so much, but she knew she had to put herself first because she had already given so much. She said she does not regret her efforts because they were done out of love, and the breakup did not make her any less valuable.
Catriona also shared her dreams of getting married and having a family with someone who is equally committed and shares the same goals. She said she could not wait for someone who is unsure about their feelings. Despite the pain, she has now accepted what happened and no longer feels the intense heartbreak she once did. Going through the breakup in public was challenging, and she needed time to grieve away from social media.

To heal, Catriona went to therapy for two years and grew closer to her family and friends. She said this period helped her reconnect with herself and become emotionally stronger than ever. She now sees both the pain and the lessons from the experience as something positive.

When asked if she still believes in love, Catriona said yes and expressed hope for a true, meaningful relationship. She also revealed that she is currently dating someone outside the entertainment industry.
