LEA SALONGA — The Filipino international singer and actress has confirmed that she and her husband, American businessman Robert Chien, have already separated. The revelation surprised many fans, as the couple had kept their personal lives mostly private.
Both Lea and Robert are 54 years old. Lea briefly shared the update during an interview with selected reporters, including MJ Marfori of TV5, while promoting the stage production Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular, which began performances at The Theatre at Solaire on January 20, 2026. In the show, Lea plays the role of Madame Thénardier, marking another major milestone in her long and respected theater career.
The topic came up naturally when the conversation shifted to their only child, Nic Chien, a trans actor. Lea shared that Nic continues to receive strong love and support from family and people close to them, despite the busy schedules of both parents. She explained that even when she and Robert are tied up with work, Nic is well cared for, especially by Robert and his partner, who make sure Nic is healthy, comfortable, and supported during times of need. This shows that their family remains caring and cooperative despite changes in their personal lives.
