Jonvic Remulla’s “Love, Sweetheart” Joke Has Rufa Mae Quinto Laughing
RUFA MAE QUINTO – The comedienne shared a lighthearted and playful moment with DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla during a recent episode of Politiko Talks on Bilyonaryo News Channel.
During the interview, Rufa Mae, a new anchor on the program, asked how she should address the secretary on air. Instead of giving a formal response, Remulla jokingly suggested she could call him “love” or “sweetheart,” prompting laughter from the hosts and co-anchors Marichu Villanueva and Jesus Falcis. Rufa Mae admitted that she was briefly surprised by the remark and smiled before joining in the laughter. Remulla noted that it was rare to see her caught off guard, and she agreed. After the playful exchange, he answered her question appropriately and professionally.
The conversation also touched on Remulla’s political plans. He stated that while no decision has been finalized, he is considering the possibility of running for president in 2028. Regarding a Senate run, he expressed a stronger preference to return to his home province of Cavite, where he previously served as governor from 2010 to 2016 and again from 2019 to 2024 before being appointed DILG Secretary.

Meanwhile, Jonvic Remulla is a politician and the current Secretary of the Interior and Local Government (since October 2024) under President Bongbong Marcos. He previously served as Governor of Cavite (2010–2016, 2019–2024) and Vice Governor of Cavite (1998–2007).
A member of the prominent Remulla political family, he began his political career as a provincial board member in 1995. As governor, he helped make Cavite one of the country’s top-performing provinces and the first ISO-certified province.

He studied philosophy at the University of the Philippines Diliman and is married to Agnes Tirona; they have five children. Outside politics, he is active in sports, managing the UP Fighting Maroons basketball team, and enjoys reading, golf, basketball, diving, and Korean pop culture.
