AIKO MELENDEZ – Actress and Quezon City councilor Aiko Melendez caught the attention of netizens after sharing a heartfelt story about Vice President Sara Duterte that quickly went viral.
The “story time” shared by actress and Quezon City councilor Aiko Melendez about Vice President Sara Duterte has become a hot topic among netizens after she posted it on Facebook on Thursday, December 23. The post quickly drew reactions as Aiko opened up about her long-standing acquaintance with the Vice President and their personal exchanges over the years.
Aiko revealed that she and Vice President Sara have known each other for a long time and that they even have direct message conversations. According to the actress, one of the qualities she admires most about VP Sara is how she treats people who ask for help, whether the concern is small or a serious matter.
“Personal po siyang sumasagot sa mga mensahe,” Aiko said, emphasizing that despite being the second-highest official in the country, there is hardly a day when VP Sara does not reply to messages. She shared a recent experience in which she messaged the Vice President and received a response within just 30 minutes, something she described as remarkable given how busy a national leader’s schedule is.
Aiko also acknowledged the strict protocol surrounding the Vice President and the fact that VP Sara does not always personally handle her phone. Still, she expressed admiration for the Vice President’s ability to make time, whether for personal conversations, serious issues, or even lighter topics that require humor and warmth.
The actress did not miss the chance to praise VP Sara’s strength as a woman. According to her, the Vice President has gone through many challenges but has never lost heart. She underscored this sentiment by saying, “Ang kanyang katapangan bilang isang babae ay hindi matatawaran. Napakarami na po niyang pinagdaanan, ngunit hindi siya kailanman pinanghinaan ng loob.”
Aiko also shared a heartfelt message addressed to the Vice President: “Salamat po, Madam, dahil kailanman ay hindi ninyo pinaramdam sa akin ang bigat ng estado ng inyong posisyon. Salamat po dahil alam kong kahit anong mangyari, mayroon akong lider na kaibigan na laging nagpapaalala sa akin na mas mahalagang magsilbi sa bayan bago ang sarili.” She added her belief that the right time will come for VP Sara and that God Himself will guide her path. Many netizens believe this alluded to the possibility of VP Sara becoming the country’s next president after the term of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., should she choose to run.
“And higit sa lahat, kapag tama na ang panahon at oras para sa inyo, ang Panginoon mismo ang hahawi ng daan kung saan kayo talaga nararapat,” Aiko said, ending her message with, “Mabuhay po kayo, at tunay na kulang ang salitang salamat.”
Aiko also addressed questions about her past relationship with Zambales 1st District Rep. and Deputy Speaker Jay Khonghun, particularly when he was critical of VP Sara. She explained, “Magkaiba ang personal relationships at political positions,” stressing that she has always maintained her own voice, principles, and boundaries between her personal and public life.
