Malacañang Press Officer Claire Castro Reacts To VP Sara Duterte Saying they’re Not Best Friends
CLAIRE CASTRO – The Malacañang press officer hit back at Vice President Sara Duterte over her remarks that they are not best friends.
As the press officer of Malacañang, Atty. Castro has spoke countless times to defend Pres. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. against the issues and accusations. There were also several instances when she was the one who immediately reacted to the tirades and remarks of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte amid a rift between her and the President.

Amid the alleged corruption and illegal drug use allegations against the President, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that she is ready to be the president if Marcos Jr. resigns from his position. According to her, it is her mandate as the first in the line of succession. For the Palace, the statement of the Vice President is allegedly unacceptable.

Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro slammed Vice Pres. Sara Duterte for expressing her readiness to replace Pres. Bongbong Marcos as president. According to Atty. Claire Castro, the statement of the Vice President supposedly weakens the confidence of the public towards the Marcos Jr. administration.

According to Castro, it is allegedly unacceptable for the Vice President to supposedly anticipate the resignation of the President. She believes that the statement of Duterte is allegedly “a form of political destabilization”. Recently, the Malacañang press official also reacted to the statement of the Vice President about her.
During an interview, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte pointed out that Palace press officer undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro is not her best friend. According to her, she has no best friend who has the same mindset with the Malacañang press official.
Atty. Claire Castro reacted to the statement of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a post on social media, the Malacañang press official agreed with the statement of the Vice President claiming that she also does not think the same way with the Vice President. She also emphasized that she was immediately a trial lawyer after she passed the licensure examination for lawyers.
“Totoo naman, admitted na hindi kami puwedeng maging best friends. Kasi hindi rin ganun ako mag-isip. Kasi after taking the BAR, after passing the BAR, naging trial lawyer na po ako and hindi kami puwedeng parehong mag-isip at hindi rin po ako korap kaya hindi kami puwedeng maging pareho,” the Palace office said.
Based on the post, during the interview, Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro was asked why she emphasized her being a trial lawyer after she passed the BAR as well as her being allegedly not corrupt. According to her, having worked as a trial lawyer, she always turn to evidence.
“Iba po kasi ‘yung mindset ko. Always evidence, always evidence… Hindi kasi ako korap, wala akong confidential funds. Kaya magkaiba kami,” Castro said.
Previously, Malacañang defended Pres. Bongbong Marcos from the corruption accusations of Zaldy Co which triggered the call for the resignation of the Chief Executive.
