Sen. Bong Go Prays for Former Pres. Duterte’s Interim Release
BONG GO – The Senator called for prayers for former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte amid his detention under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands.
The ICC previously junked the interim release plea of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The decision came with a unanimous verdict from all three (3) judges who decided over the plea. Prior to it, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that a third country allegedly committed to host the interim release of her father if the court will approve it.

Duterte filed an appeal on the decision of the ICC to junk his interim release plea. The foreign court is expected to release its verdict on November 28. Duterte’s former spokesman Harry Roque previously claimed that they are holding prayer vigils for the interim release of former Pres. Duterte. He stressed that they can only hold on to prayers as the decision is in the hands of the judges.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is currently 80 years old. He is detained under the custody of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands since March. The ICC prosecutors filed three (3) counts of murder against him as alleged “crimes against humanity”.
Aside from junking his interim release plea, the foreign court also denied the former President camp’s challenge to its jurisdiction. Amid his continued ICC detention, several senators previously called for the house arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. One of them is Sen. Bong Go.

Sen. Bong Go was a long-time personal aide of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte before he won a seat in the Senate in 2019. Recently, the Senator called for prayers for his former boss. Based on a post of News5 on social media, he called on the public to pray for the health and safety of the former President.
“He is 80 years old na po. Nagihirapan siyang mag-isa roon,” Go said.

Sen. Bong Go appealed to “every Filipino to continue praying for Tatay Digong”. Based on the post, the Senator prays that the ICC will grant the interim release plea of former Pres. Duterte.
“Araw-araw, oras-oras ipagdasal po natin si Tatay Digong, ako mismo sobra po akong nasasaktan, isa po ‘yan sa aking wish sa ngayon at parati kong ipinagdarasal na mabigyan sya ng interim release,” the Senator said.
Previously, another known loyal ally of the Dutertes, Sen. Bong Go appealed to his fellow senators for the plea for a house arrest for former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
