Cong. Paolo Duterte Calls DOJ Sec. Remulla’s Appointment as Ombudsman “Mockery of our Constitution”
PAOLO DUTERTE – The Davao City 1st District Congressman reacted to the appointment of Department of Justice Secretary Boying Remulla as Ombudsman.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. appointed DOJ Sec. Boying Remulla as the next Ombudsman. He will replace retired former Ombudsman Samuel Martires who started his retirement in July. Remulla is one of the 7 applicants for Ombudsman who made it to the shortlist submitted to the President.

It was the Judiciary and Bar Council or JBC that accepted and evaluated the applications for Ombudsman. Out of 17 applicants, only 7 of them made it to the shortlist for Ombudsman applicants submitted to Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Even prior to his appointment, several Filipinos expected that Marcos Jr. will choose Remulla.

Following the appointment of outgoing DOJ Sec. Boying Remulla as Ombudsman, Senator Imee Marcos claimed that she is thinking about the safety of the life of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. She even asked if her brother, Marcos Jr., is still okay for appointing Remulla as the chief graft buster.

The presidential sister who sided with the Duterte family in the issue of the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte previously claimed that she will stand against Remulla’s appointment as Ombudsman for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and her family. According to her, the position might allegedly be used to pressure the Dutertes.
Recently, Davao City 1st District Cong. Paolo Duterte aired his side on the appointment of DOJ Sec. Boying Remulla as Ombudsman by Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on a post on social media, the eldest son of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte claimed that the government officials allegedly needs all the help they can get for cover-up.

Based on the post, Cong. Paolo Duterte stressed that the sitting officials have several problems now and the appointment of DOJ Sec. Boying Remulla as Ombudsman “makes sense”.
“It makes sense. Sa dami ng problema ng mga nakaupo ngayon, kailangan nila ng lahat ng tulong na makuha nila para mapagtakpan sila… even at the cost of making a mockery of our Constitution. God bless the Philippines,” the Davao Congressman said.
DOJ Sec. Boying Remulla is one of the five (5) members of the Marcos Jr. Cabinet that Sen. Imee Marcos asked the Ombudsman to be investigated on over former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest and the transfer of his custody to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands. Following his appointment, incoming Ombudsman Boying Remulla claimed that his “record” speaks for itself and there’s no justice secretary who sent more powerful individuals to jail than him.
