Sheil Andes, a crew member of Chiu’s upcoming series The Alibi, also shared on X that the actress plans to fill two 10-wheeler trucks with construction supplies to help rebuild damaged homes. Chiu is in Cebu for the filming of The Alibi with co-star Paulo Avelino, but despite her busy schedule, she chose to spend time and resources to support her kababayans. Fellow actress Zsa Zsa Padilla, who is also part of the series, also donated food packs to families affected by the disaster.

The earthquake that struck Cebu was the strongest ever recorded in the northern parts of the province and the deadliest in the Philippines since 2013. In just half a minute, the tremor destroyed homes, schools, churches, and even historic landmarks. At least 73 people died, 559 were injured, and more than 65,000 families lost their homes. Thousands are now staying in evacuation centers, while power outages, water shortages, and landslides have made the situation even worse. The damage has been estimated at ₱3 billion, and over 3,000 aftershocks were recorded in the following days.
