Samantha Da Roza: “I will never say na hindi ako nepo baby, kasi nepo baby ako”
SAMANTHA DA ROZA – The actress openly acknowledges being a “nepo baby,” coming from a well-known showbiz family.
She was introduced to the entertainment industry through the film Isla Babuyan, but her true dream has always been to become a singer. Samantha is the daughter of former Close-Up commercial model Cathy Da Roza, the niece of former actor Robin Da Roza, and the granddaughter of Miss Universe 1969, Gloria Diaz.
In an interview, Samantha shared that singing is her first love, although she has yet to sign a recording contract. She hopes to perform through recordings, live shows, or even in films. She describes her singing style as powerful, leaning toward theater, R&B, jazz, and pop.

Samantha admits that her family background made it easier for her to enter showbiz and secure her first film role. She shared that the opportunity came naturally, and she accepted it right away to gain experience in acting. While she had some exposure to theater when she was younger, she has yet to undergo formal acting training but hopes to do so in the future. Her family reminded her to stay grounded and true to herself despite the pressures of the industry.
Samantha felt nervous during the premiere night of Isla Babuyan, especially with her grandmother Gloria Diaz present to support her. Gloria gave her valuable advice, encouraging her to project more on screen. Samantha appreciated the feedback and was grateful for her grandmother’s guidance, acknowledging Gloria’s experience in the industry.

When asked what makes her different from other newcomers, Samantha said it is her courage to express her thoughts and feelings openly. She hopes to be recognized not only for her looks but also for her intelligence and depth. She believes her strength lies in her versatility and her ability to adapt and learn.
Samantha acknowledged that her family background gives her an advantage by opening doors in the industry. However, she pointed out that her success still depends on her own hard work and dedication. She accepts being called a “nepo baby,” saying that while her name can create opportunities, it’s ultimately her responsibility to earn her place and prove herself.
Before pursuing her career in entertainment, Samantha focused on completing her Multimedia Arts degree at the College of St. Benilde, showing her dedication to both her education and her craft.
