Statement of Kitty Duterte amid Dad Rodrigo’s Detention, Family’s Alleged Link in Different Issues
KITTY DUTERTE – The youngest daughter of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke on their family being allegedly dragged in different issues.
Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte remains under the custody of the International Criminal Court, more popularly known as ICC, for around six (6) months now. He is faced with an allegation of crimes against humanity over the drug war of his administration.
Before her elder brothers flew back to the Philippines, Kitty Duterte and her three (3) siblings, Davao 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, and acting Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte were able to visit their father together. It seemed like a Duterte family reunion inside the ICC detention facility and it was the first time that they were able to visit the former President altogether.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, it was really former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s request if they can visit him altogether. She stressed that their father is really happy and it was quite a loud visit. However, shortly after the said visit, the Vice President announced that they can no longer share details about their visit to the former President inside the ICC detention facility.
According to Vice Pres. Duterte, they were reminded by the ICC of the rules. The confirmation of charges of the former President was set on September 23 but the foreign court has decided to move it as he is reportedly unfit for a trial.
Recently, it was Kitty Duterte, the youngest among the Duterte siblings, who answered a few questions of the Filipinos outside the ICC detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands. Based on a post of Alvin & Tourism on Facebook, the daughter of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was asked how she feels that their family’s name is allegedly dragged in many different issues.
Kitty Duterte asserted that they have clear conscience. According to her, she believes they are prepare for such situation wherein their family’s name is allegedly dragged on any matter.
“They can keep trying. Malinis ang konsiyensa ganun talaga ‘yan. Problema ng North, Duterte ‘yung dadalhin na pangalan. Yeah, it’s something we were prepared for I guess for our name to be dragged wherever and whatever issue,” she said.
Based on the post, Kitty Duterte stressed that she believes that the best that they can do is to “hope for the best and prepare for the worst”. Currently, amid the flood control corruption issue in the Philippines, it is Kitty’s older brother, Davao City 1st District Cong. Paolo Duterte, who is being questioned about the P51-billion infrastructure funds given to his district under their father’s term.
