Marcos Jr. Ordered Relief of Now Former PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III “Effective Immediately”
Former PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III broke his silence following the order to relieve him from his post by President Bongbong Marcos.
Torre had a very short stint as the chief of the national police with just around three (3) months. Yesterday, countless Filipinos were shocked when the Palace released a letter stating that Nicolas Torre III is ordered relieved by Marcos Jr. from his position as the PNP chief.

The letter issued by the Palace did not mention the reason why Marcos Jr. removed Torre from the PNP lead. It triggered the speculations that the decision of the former PNP Chief to assign Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez who was the PNP’s second-in-command then as Area Police Command lead in Western Mindanao was allegedly the reason.

Amid the issues, the Department of Interior and Local Government or the DILG spoke on the removal of Nicolas Torre III as PNP chief. According to Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, it was simply the decision of Pres. Bongbong Marcos to take the PNP into a new direction. He stressed that Torre did not commit a violation against any law.

Furthermore, Remulla also stressed that the former PNP Chief was not charged criminally or administratively with any case. Marcos Jr. is allegedly considering another government post for Torre according to the Interior Secretary.
Meanwhile, Remulla claimed that he is not aware which position the President is mulling to offer to the former PNP Chief. According to him, it still depends on Torre if he will accept the offer. Recently, Torre broke his silence following his relief from the position.

Through a shared post, former PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III expressed his gratitude for al the support to him. He shared a post in his fan page which cited that his every fight was for the Filipinos.
“Salamat po sa suporta nyo!” the former PNP Chief wrote.
Here’s the caption of the post on his fan page:
“Sa bawat laban—sa ring man o sa serbisyo—ang tagumpay ay laging para sa taumbayan. Ang lakas at tapang ni Chief Torre ay para sa kapakanan ng bawat Pilipino. Dahil ang tunay na tagumpay ay ang patuloy na paglilingkod sa bayan.“
Following his relief from being the chief of the Philippine National Police, acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte expressed his belief that an “internal conflict” has allegedly caused the relief of Torre from being the PNP chief.
