PCO Speaks on Marcos SONA 2025 Set to Happen Today
MARCOS SONA 2025 – The Presidential Communications Office gave an update about the preparation of President Bongbong Marcos for the annual address.
The House of Representatives’ Office of the Secretary General and several other government agencies and offices have prepared for the annual address of Pres. Bongbong Marcos which is set to take place today. It will be held at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.
Previously, amid the onslaught of the Southwest Monsoon, Pres. Bongbong Marcos has ordered the immediate suspension of all the preparations for his 4th SONA. The President wanted all efforts to be directed to helping the Filipinos who are affected by the typhoon and the flood.
The Philippine National Police or PNP previously confirmed that around 12,000 personnel will be deployed for the 4th SONA of Marcos Jr. PNP chief Police General Nicolas Torre III said there were no threats recorded and the threat is allegedly on the weather condition on the day of the annual address of the President.
Recently, the Presidential Communications Office gave an update about the Marcos SONA 2025. Based on a report on GMA News, the PCO said that it will depend on the weather this afternoon if Pres. Bongbong Marcos will board a chopper going to the venue for his annual address.
The PCO also confirmed that Pres. Marcos has finished rehearsing his speech for the annual event. Based on the report, the SONA 2025 is expected to last for over an hour. However, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is not expected to attend the annual event.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously confirmed that she will skip the 4th SONA of Marcos Jr. According to the Vice President, she will be in South Korea for a gathering with Filipinos there. She also claimed that she does not expect to hear anything substantial about the country from Marcos Jr.
If she pushes through in skipping the Marcos SONA 2025, it will be the second time that Vice Pres. Duterte ditched the annual event. In 2024, she also refused to attend the 3rd SONA of Pres. Marcos and even called herself as the “designated survivor”. She also refused to watch it online or on television.
The House of Representatives’ spokesperson, Atty. Princess Abante, previously said that it is also part of the responsibilities of the Vice President to listen to the report of the Chief Executive about the country. However, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte opposed to it saying the people are not mandated to listen to Marcos Jr.’s SONA.
