Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian believes that the Duterte impeachment trial needs to begin citing the value of transparency in the Senate. He was one of the senator judges who voted against the remand of Duterte’s impeachment to the House of Representatives.

Incoming senators Erwin Tulfo and Kiko Pangilinan also believe that the impeachment trial against the Vice President must push through. According to the winning senators of the 2025 Midterm Elections, the evidence against the Vice President must determine the verdict in the trial. With the transition to the 20th Congress, several senators will have to take their oath as senator judges in the trial.

Recently, Malacañang also aired its side on the call for the biased senator judges to inhibit from the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on PhilStar, Palace press officer Claire Castro expressed support on the previous call of Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero.

“Mas maganda po tama po iyong dating sinabi ni Senator Chiz Escudero na umiwas sa ganitong mga klaseng mga pananaw dahil minsan nakikita kung saan sila kumikiling,” she said.

Atty. Claire Castro stressed that the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has yet to begin, thus, the remarks of the senators on the impeachment trial is allegedly a “witch hunt”.

“Parang isang judge na nagsabing hindi na siya guilty habang hindi pa dinidinig ang anumang ebidensiya,” the Malacañang official said.

However, on the call for the inhibition of the biased senator judges in the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, based on the report, Malacañang is not in favor of it. According to the Palace official, the senator judges should just show the Filipinos how they move for the people.

Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also aired her side on the call for biased senator judges to inhibit from the impeachment trial.
