Netizens React to Councilor’s Reading of a ChatGPT-Generated Prayer
CHATGPT PRAYER? – A councilor from Tuguegarao City, Grace Arago, faced heavy criticism online after netizens noticed that the prayer she read during the 9th City Council Regular Session on June 17 appeared to have been generated by ChatGPT or another AI tool. What drew even more attention was that she read aloud not only the prayer but also the instructions provided by the AI.
The incident went viral after the Facebook page Nutribun Republic posted a video clip of the session. Comments quickly poured in, with users criticizing the lack of sincerity and attention to detail. One commenter pointed out that it wasn’t a heartfelt prayer and mocked the fact that she even read the AI-generated directions. Others mentioned the lack of understanding and the failure to proofread the text.

Meanwhile, ChatGPT is a computer program created by OpenAI that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to understand and respond to text like a real person. The name stands for “Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer.” It may sound technical, but in simple terms, it means ChatGPT is designed to hold conversations and answer questions based on what it has learned from reading a wide range of materials.
It was trained using a massive amount of text from books, websites, and other sources, so it knows how to write and respond in a natural, human-like way. You can ask it to help you write essays, summarize articles, solve problems, create stories, answer questions, or even assist with emails or homework.

Many people use ChatGPT for school, work, or entertainment. It can save time and make tasks easier. However, it’s not perfect—it doesn’t actually “think” or “know” things the way people do. Sometimes, it might give answers that are incorrect or outdated, so it’s always best to double-check important information.
