Boobay Faints While Performing
BOOBAY – Fans were left worried after comedian Norman Balbuena, suddenly fainted during a performance at an out-of-town event. Videos of the incident quickly made the rounds online, prompting many netizens to express concern and call on him to take care of his health.
In the recent episode of Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update, host Ogie Diaz shared that the incident reminded many viewers of a previous health scare Boobay had during an appearance on national TV, Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, where he appeared to space out mid-interview.
In the viral clip, Boobay looked cheerful and energetic—singing, joking around with the audience, and even planting a playful kiss on a man in the front row. But just moments later, he seemed to lose energy, stumbling as if he were about to fall. Luckily, a woman in the audience managed to catch him before he hit the floor. Medics immediately came to his aid and brought him backstage.
Ogie also recalled an earlier interview where Boobay opened up about his health struggles. Boobay admitted that he experiences health episodes when he doesn’t get enough sleep or takes on too much work without rest. Aside from his regular show, The Boobay and Tekla Show (TBATS), he still performs at comedy bars and joins out-of-town events.
Because of this, Boobay said he has already started cutting down on his performances in comedy bars to avoid overfatigue. Still, he admitted that it’s hard to completely stop doing something that’s been part of his life for so long.
He revealed that he suffers from a condition called “absence seizure”—a brief moment when a person’s mind goes blank, which was what happened during his Fast Talk appearance. He said this condition started after he experienced a mild stroke in the past.
As of now, Boobay has not yet released an official statement about the latest incident. Fans continue to send him messages of support and hope he prioritizes his health moving forward.
