UNO-R Civil Engineering Students Impress Public w/ Their w/ 9,500-Page Thesis

A group of Civil Engineering students in Negros Occidental impress netizens with their 9,500-page thesis.

A thesis is a long, written research project that students usually complete at the end of their college or university studies. Students choose a specific topic to study or solve a problem. They collect information, analyze it, and present their findings.

Doing a thesis helps students develop important skills like critical thinking, research, teamwork, and problem-solving. It’s also one of the final steps before graduation, especially in courses that require in-depth study or technical work.

Recently, a group of Civil Engineering students from the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) caught the attention of netizens after their thesis reached an incredible total of 9,500 pages.

The team is composed of Miguel Cepeda, John Lawrence De Asis, Nathaniel Figueroa, Charlie Gelotin Jr., Ritzmon Jan Mentigar, and Redalyn Pahuway. They are majoring in Structural Engineering under the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program.

Their thesis is titled “A Proposed Six-Storey Thirty-Five-Classroom Annex Tertiary Education Building at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos.” The massive page count was due to their detailed analysis, methods, tabulations, and computations related to structural design.
