Man Replaced by “Panget” Stabs a Stranger

Man Arrested for Stabbing Stranger After Argument

QUEZON CITY — A man was arrested after stabbing a stranger in an incident reportedly triggered by his anger over being “replaced” by an ex-partner.

According to reports, the suspect approached the victim, whom he did not know, and asked to join him in looking for a person known as “Panget.” When the victim said he did not know the person, the suspect became annoyed. This led to a heated argument, which ended with the suspect stabbing the victim near the eye, causing a minor injury.

Police Captain Febie Madrid explained that the conflict began when the suspect questioned the victim about the person he was searching for. The victim’s denial sparked the suspect’s anger, which quickly escalated into violence. After the stabbing, the suspect tried to flee with the knife but was chased down and caught by local residents.

Authorities revealed that the suspect had a prior criminal record, including a 10-year imprisonment for homicide charges. The suspect claimed he acted in self-defense, stating the victim was also aggressive during the confrontation. However, officials denied this claim. The suspect is currently in police custody and faces charges of frustrated homicide.

Meanwhile, stabbing incidents continue to be a serious concern across the Philippines, affecting many communities nationwide. Every year, thousands of cases are reported where individuals suffer injuries from stabbing, often resulting from arguments, personal conflicts, or crimes. These incidents cause not only physical harm but also emotional trauma for victims and their families.

Law enforcement agencies work hard to reduce these violent acts by increasing patrols and promoting peaceful conflict resolution. Despite these efforts, stabbing cases remain a challenge, underscoring the need for stronger community support and better education on resolving disputes without violence.
