NBI Files Charges vs. Sara Duterte over Remarks against Marcos Jr.
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President skipped the second day of the probe of the Department of Justice (DOJ) over the charges filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Amid Vice Pres. Duterte facing a looming impeachment trial, the Department of Justice sent the Vice President summons over the charges filed against her by the NBI. The investigation bureau filed charges of alleged sedition and grave threats against the Vice President over her controversial remarks against Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

Last year, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that she hired someone to eradicate Pres. Bongbong Marcos as well as First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and House Speaker Martin Romualdez if an alleged plot against her life succeeds. It hooked national attention and several authorities reacted to it.

According to the Vice President, there was allegedly no active threat in her statement. She believes that her statement was taken out of context. The NBI sent Duterte summons for the investigation but she skipped the probe.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte confirmed she received summons from the DOJ over the charges filed by the NBI against her. She claimed that she will attend the probe as she needed to take an oath. The Vice President personally appeared before the Justice department to take an oath on the first day of the preliminary investigation.
On the second day of the DOJ probe on the case filed by the NBI, Vice Pres. Duterte skipped the investigation. Based on a report on PhilStar, the Vice President was represented by her lawyers, Paul Lim and Michael Poa.

Atty. Michael Poa explained why Vice Pres. Sara Duterte no longer appeared personally at the DOJ on the second day of the probe. Based on the report, the lawyer said that the personal appearance of the Vice President is not anymore required since she has already taken her oath. Furthermore, the lawyer stressed that they have also filed their counter-affidavit on the first day of the preliminary investigation.
According to Poa, it is now the turn of the investigation bureau to respond to the counter-affidavit that they have filed. The lawyer claimed that as of yesterday, the NBI has yet to respond to their counter-affidavit. He also revealed that their camp intends to submit supplemental affidavits on Monday.
The Vice President is faced with a looming impeachment trial. Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero has even shown the robe that he will use in Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.
