Lab Results of Foreigner in Bacolod Suspected for Coronavirus Infection
FOREIGNER IN BACOLOD SUSPECTED FOR CORONAVIRUS – The laboratory test results of the foreigner in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental have arrived.
Recently, several cities, municipalities, and provinces in the Philippines have confirmed that they have suspected cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus. The said disease was first recorded in Wuhan City in China where at least 400 people have died due to it.
Negros Occidental is one of the provinces which got PUIs or persons under investigation for possible novel coronavirus infection. The province confirmed that there are three (3) suspected cases – a foreigner and two (2) Filipinos.
The foreigner is a Canadian national who is married to a Filipina. He is confined and isolated at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.
The other patients who are suspected for coronavirus are also confined in the same regional hospital. All of them are isolated to curb the spread of the disease in case they are positive for it. Their specimens were sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).
Recently, the laboratory results of the foreigner suspected for coronavirus in Bacolod City arrived. Based on a report on TV Patrol Negros, the 43-year-old man tested negative for nCoV.
According to Dr. Jane Juanico, the head of the Department of Health (DOH) Infectious Disease Section in Western Visayas, the patient will remain confined in the hospital for several other tests. It is to confirm that he has no underlying illness.
Currently, the foreign national is still in the isolation room of the government hospital. He was considered as a PUI for his travel history to Taiwan which has a positive case of nCoV.
