Electricity Disrupted During Campaign Rally of Sam Verzosa in Tondo
SAM VERZOSA – The Manila mayoral candidate faced an unexpected disruption when the power was allegedly cut off while he was delivering a speech during a recent campaign sortie in Moriones, Tondo. The incident was discussed in the “Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update” vlog, where host Ogie Diaz shared how the rally suddenly lost electricity just as Verzosa was addressing the crowd.
Verzosa was emphasizing the idea that short-term financial aid can never outweigh the long-term consequences of making poor voting choices. At that exact moment, the sound from his wireless microphone cut out, but his message remained clear through his lip movements that in exchange for the wrong vote comes a lifetime of suffering.

Despite the blackout, supporters in attendance came together and used their mobile phone flashlights to light up the area. Verzosa continued speaking using a megaphone, declaring, “Akala nila, kaya nila tayong pigilan dito,” and confidently adding, “Hindi nila alam, kakampi ko lahat ng mga taga-Tondo!” His supporters responded with loud cheers.
It was later reported that the power interruption was caused by someone deliberately cutting the electric cables at the event, although the identity of the person responsible remains unknown.

Meanwhile, Sam Verzosa is a businessman, public servant, and television personality. He is best known as the co-founder of the multi-level marketing company Frontrow International, which offers health and beauty products and implements the E-Skwela program—providing internet and printing services to remote schools. Verzosa is also the distributor of Maserati vehicles in the Philippines through Modena Motorsports and a part-owner of the Manila Batang Sampaloc basketball team.
In 2022, Verzosa began his political career as the first nominee of the Tutok To Win Party-List and now serves as a member of the House of Representatives. He has authored bills aimed at helping disadvantaged job seekers and expanding access to digital education. In October 2024, he filed his candidacy for Mayor of Manila as an independent. Despite facing stiff competition from former mayor Isko Moreno and incumbent mayor Honey Lacuna, he continues to campaign actively.
