Senior Citizen Injured in Violent Bag-Snatching Incident

BUKIDNON – A senior citizen is currently in a coma after being violently injured during a bag-snatching incident in Valencia City. The incident, which has deeply disturbed the community, was captured on surveillance footage.

In the video, the elderly woman is seen walking along the roadside with her bag resting on her left shoulder. Without warning, a man riding a motorcycle drives up beside her and suddenly grabs her bag. The force of the snatching causes the woman to spin and fall hard to the ground, where she immediately loses consciousness.

According to Police Major Jayvee Babaan, spokesperson for the Bukidnon Police Provincial Office, the victim sustained multiple injuries after being dragged during the incident. “Unfortunately, kahit nadala siya sa hospital, nasa state of coma ang biktima. Up to now, hindi pa siya conscious,” he said.

The suspect was not wearing a helmet, and although his face was partially covered, authorities believe the CCTV footage can help identify him. As of now, the victim’s family has not made any public statement regarding her condition.

Police are actively seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect. Major Babaan encourages anyone who may have information about the incident to contact the Valencia City Police Station and share any details that could assist in the investigation.

This tragic event has prompted concern and calls for justice from the local community. Authorities continue their investigation, while many remain hopeful for the victim’s recovery and for the suspect to be apprehended soon.

Meanwhile, If someone falls victim to a snatching incident, their safety should be the top priority. They should avoid chasing the suspect and instead move to a safe location and seek help. It is important to check for injuries and seek medical attention if necessary. The crime should be reported to the police as soon as possible, including details such as the suspect’s appearance, the direction of escape, what was stolen, and the presence of any witnesses or nearby CCTV. A police report should be secured for future use. If personal items such as phones, bank cards, or IDs were stolen, the victim should block or report them immediately to prevent misuse.
