VP Sara Duterte Speaks on Philippines under Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ Rule
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President apologized to the Filipinos for endorsing Pres. Bongbong Marcos during the 2022 Elections.
The arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the transfer of his transfer to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands caused political turmoil in the Philippines. Amid the issue, presidential sister Senator Imee Marcos and Vice Pres. Duterte reaffirmed their friendship.
Sen. Imee Marcos led the Senate Foreign Relations committee’s investigation on the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously expressed she’s willing to attend Sen. Imee Marcos’ probe on her father’s arrest.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also endorsed Sen. Imee Marcos through the viral “ITIM” campaign ad. According to her, black is allegedly the current color of the country due to hunger and criminality. The two (2) politicians also recently joined the campaign sortie of Manila mayoralty candidate Isko Moreno.
At the said campaign event, Vice Pres. Duterte endorsed Sen. Marcos. She even jested that Marcos needs to change her surname — followed by another jest that she will be a Romualdez if she does it as it is her middle name. Meanwhile, she stressed that Sen. Marcos and Pres. Marcos are two (2) different people.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also apologized to the Filipinos for endorsing Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The BBM-Sara tandem united the supporters of the Marcoses and the Dutertes during the 2022 Elections.
“Kita niyo nasaan na ‘yung bansa natin ngayon? Nasa kangkungan na tayo. Ay sorry! Inindorse ko rin pala si BBM. Humihingi ako ng patawad. Humihingi ako ng patawad sa inyong lahat,” she said based on a post on Facebook.
Vice Pres. Duterte also expressed her acceptance of the alleged apology of Sen. Marcos for convincing her to run for vice president in 2022. Previously, Sen. Marcos admitted her regrets for convincing Vice Pres. Duterte to run with her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
“Ma’am [Sen. Imee Marcos] tinatanggap ko po ang sorry mo at pinatakbo mo akong vice president. Okay lang Ma’am. Mang uli na ta uy [Umuwi na tayo],” the Vice President said at a campaign rally.
Aside from Sen. Imee Marcos, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is also endorsing Manny Villar’s daughter and the PDP Laban candidates.
