Duterte’s Long-Time Partner Honeylet Avanceña Speaks on Former President’s Message

HONEYLET AVANCEÑA – The long-time partner of former Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte relayed his message to the Filipino people as the 2025 Midterm Elections draw near.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is currently detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands. The former Philippine President is facing an accusation of crimes against humanity over the war on drugs of his administration.

It was last March 11 when Duterte was arrested by the Philippine authorities and flown to The Hague, Netherlands via Dubai. Senator Robin Padilla was one of those who flew to Netherlands to talk to Duterte amid his detention under the ICC.

According to Sen. Robin Padilla, being the president of the PDP-Laban whose chairman is former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, he needed to talk to the former President amid the election season in the Philippines. The 2025 Midterm Polls is set on May 12 and the overseas voting has already began.

Amid his detention in The Hague, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has a message to the Filipino people. It was relayed by his long-time partner, Honeylet Avanceña, who is currently in The Hague since the last week of March.

Based on a video posted on social media, Honeylet Avanceña claimed that former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte wants the Filipinos to tell to just forget him if they will not support his PDP-Laban team in the upcoming elections.

“Ngayon may mensahe siya. Sabi niya, kalimutan nyo daw siya kung ‘di nyo daw suportahan ang PDP niya. Magkalimutan na lang daw,” Honeylet said.

The overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who are in The Hague were quick to affirm that they will support the PDP-Laban of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Honeylet Avanceña arrived in The Hague ahead of the 80th birthday of the former President with their daughter, Kitty.

The confirmation of charges of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is set on September 23 which is still five (5) months away from now. Recently, the ICC released the deadlines and the important dates on the Duterte case ahead of the September hearing.
