Sen. Imee Marcos Affirms Friendship with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte
IMEE MARCOS – The Senator expressed regrets in convincing Vice President Sara Duterte to run with her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, in 2022.
The recent turn of events left a huge gap between the Marcoses and the Dutertes. When former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was arrested last March 11, countless Filipinos expected that Senator Imee will be torn between her brother and her friend, VP Sara.
It is no secret to the public that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Sen. Imee Marcos are the ones who are really friends as what the VP has said before. According to her, she and Pres. Bongbong Marcos did not start as friends and they only talked about the campaign in 2022 and work. However, according to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, he was probably deceived by VP Sara when she downplayed their ties.
Following the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Sen. Imee Marcos expressed unacceptance of what happened and opened a Senate investigation. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee has already conducted three (3) inquiries on the arrest of the former President.
Recently, Sen. Imee Marcos took to social media a video of her campaign ad with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The said campaign ad highlights black as the campaign color of the senatorial reelection bid of Marcos — ‘ITIM’ which stands for “Inday Trusts Imee Marcos”.
In the campaign ad, Duterte and Marcos could be heard saying that black is the color of the country now as the Filipino people are mourning hunger and crimes and the people are allegedly starting not only for food but for justice.
Recently, Sen. Imee Marcos reaffirmed her friendship with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the lawmaker expressed her regret for convincing Duterte to run with her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
“Parang sinisisi ko rin ang sarili ko kasi parang dinamay ko siya sa gulo. Nananahimik na siya. Nag-file na siya bilang mayor ng Davao. Kinaladkad ko pa at sinabi ko, sige na, mag-vice sa president ka. Hindi ko naman akalain kailanman nahahantong sa ganito,” she said.
According to the Senator, she and VP Sara are the ones who are friends since the beginning. Based on the report, she stressed that they know each other a lot and she does not forget her gratitude to Duterte as well as the Vice President’s trust on her.
“Kaya eto, andito kami, hindi niya ako binigo at hindi ko rin siya bibiguin,” she said.
Recently, amid the political turmoil in the country, Sen. Imee Marcos expressed her prayer that Pres. Bongbong Marcos will be back in the right path. According to her, they have not talked as the communication between them is allegedly always blocked.
