Is Former Pres. Duterte’s Daughter Kitty Duterte an American Citizen?
KITTY DUTERTE – The daughter of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte refused to explain the viral photos of her holding a U.S. Passport.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is currently detained in the detention facility of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands. The former President was arrested last March 11 upon his arrival from Hong Kong amid a reported issuance of an arrest warrant by the ICC.
Duterte is faced with an allegation of crimes against humanity over his administration’s war on drugs. The ICC previously confirmed that there is an “ongoing” investigation of the other personalities linked to Duterte’s drug war. The next phase on the ICC legal proceedings is the confirmation of charges which is still a few months from now on September 23.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte celebrated his 80th birthday inside the ICC detention facility last March 28. Ahead of his birthday, Honeylet Avanceña and Kitty Duterte arrived in The Hague to visit the detained former President.
Duterte was released from the hospital wing of the Hague Penitentiary Institution and is now under a regular detention. At the Hague, there were several instances when Honeylet Avanceña and Kitty Duterte spoke in short interviews as they also bonded with the Duterte supporters outside the ICC detention facility.
In one recent interview, Kitty Duterte was spotted holding a U.S. Passport before she answered questions with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Photos and videos of the youngest daughter of former Pres. Duterte with the said travel document went viral on social media.
Based on a report on PhilStar, Kitty Duterte recently broke her silence on her viral photos and videos where she can bee seen holding a U.S. Passport. The daughter of former Pres. Duterte stressed that she is a Filipino and refused to explain on the issue.
“I don’t mind them actually. I’m a Filipino citizen. I don’t think I have to explain since I’m a private citizen,” Kitty said.
Based on the report, in March 2017, then Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte told the Filipinos in Myanmar that Kitty Duterte is an American citizen. It is no secret to the public that Honeylet Avanceña has worked as a nurse in U.S. before she came back to the country.
The ICC legal team of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is led by British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman. French lawyer Dov Jacobs is also an associate counsel in Duterte’s team who is eyed to probably focus on their jurisdictional argument.
