Is Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Hinting a Presidential Run in 2028?
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President revealed that detained Pastor Apollo Quiboloy said that she must be the next president of the Philippines.
Several incumbent officials of the Philippine government join their bets for the upcoming 2025 Midterm Elections. Ahead of the poll, Vice Pres. Duterte has advised the voters to listen to the achievements and platforms of the candidates. She advised the voters to check on the promises fulfilled by the candidates.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte joined the campaign sortie of the PDP-Laban in Hong Kong. However, their camp was told by the Hong Kong authorities not to talk about politics in a public assembly. The event was regarded as a thanksgiving event organized by the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy who is currently detained is one of the senatorial bets of the Dutertes. Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte previously vowed to campaign for the Pastor. He was also present at the thanksgiving event in Hong Kong.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, at the said event, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte revealed that Pastor Apollo Quiboloy has told her that she must be the next president so the struggles of the Filipinos and the country will end.
“Sabi niya sa akin, ikaw, ganito ang nangyari sa buhay ko. Sabi niya, ‘Inday Sara, ganiyan din nangyari sa buhay mo, dahil hindi pwede na ikaw ang mauna at sila ang sumunod. Dahil, wala nang katapusan. Dapat, sila ang mauna, at ikaw ang sumunod, para matigil na at hindi na paulit-ulit ang kahirapan sa ating bayan’,” the Vice President said referring to her conversation with the Pastor.
According Vice Pres. Duterte, it is hurts her to be blamed for stepping aside and giving way to Pres. Bongbong Marcos but the pain is lessened whenever she would recall what the Pastor told her. She stressed that she was told by the Pastor that she is exactly where God intended her to be.
Based on the report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte thanked the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Hong Kong for their support. She also seemingly hinted a possible presidential bid in 2028.
“Pagpapasalamat ko sa tulong ninyo, sa kampanya ninyo, sa suporta ninyo para sa akin at sa boto ninyo noong nakaraang halalan noong 2022. At sa susunod na halalan sa 2028 — joke lang. Joke,” the Vice President said.
Currently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is facing an impeachment battle. The tentative start of her impeachment trial is on July 30.
