Lady Netizen Leaves Her Father to Roam the Streets for Being Irresponsible
BREADWINNER – A lady netizen made the difficult decision to let her father wander the streets due to several reasons.
Recently, a Reddit user named Asanot explained why she allowed her father to live as a homeless man. The post quickly went viral on social media and garnered various reactions from internet users.
At 29 years old, she is the eldest of four siblings and the family’s breadwinner. Her mother is a housewife, while her father has been unemployed for years. She worked her way through college and supported her siblings up to senior high school.
Although she couldn’t afford to send them to college, they have started working to contribute financially. Her plan is to help them pursue education under an alternative learning program when they have enough savings.
For 13 years, she has carried the burden of being the sole provider. She started working at 16, never missing a day, even during the pandemic, because her family relied on her.
Her father, however, had always been an alcoholic. He spent his days drinking with his friends or relatives, barely contributing to the family. When she turned 16, her father stopped providing support altogether. Eventually, her parents separated due to his vices.
Years later, her father begged to return, promising he had changed. Out of pity, the family took him back and even bought him a tricycle to help him earn a living. However, he continued drinking, frequently disappearing for days, coming home drunk, and causing fights. Despite numerous chances, he never changed.
Two weeks ago, after another incident where her father abandoned responsibilities and came home intoxicated, she decided she had enough. Through a video call, she asked him to leave. Now, her father sleeps in his tricycle, the market, or even the cemetery.
Relatives urge her to take him back, suggesting she rent him a place or buy him land for farming. But she refuses, knowing that no amount of help will make her father change.
While it pains her to see her father struggling, she believes his choices led to this. She has sacrificed her entire life for her family, never experiencing a true childhood. She wonders if she will ever get married since she remains the primary provider.
She dreams of having parents who truly care for her. She longs for the feeling of being loved in return.
