DJ Koo Addresses Rumors About Barbie Hsu’s Estate
DJ KOO – The South Korean DJ/producer and the husband of the late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, has spoken out against rumors regarding the distribution of her multimillion-dollar estate. This marks his first public statement since Barbie’s passing on February 2, 2025, at the age of 48.
On the evening of February 6, DJ Koo shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, addressing the ongoing speculation about financial matters. In a mix of Korean and Chinese, he expressed his deep grief and frustration over the false claims circulating online. Referring to Barbie by her Korean name, Seo Hee-won, he described his pain, stating, “I am currently going through a time of indescribable sorrow and pain, and a time of heartbreaking pain.”
DJ Koo lamented that, even before he could fully grieve, false accusations regarding insurance and financial matters began to spread. He criticized individuals who, under the guise of mourning, were fueling controversies to harm his family.
International news outlets have speculated about Barbie’s financial legacy. According to Mirror Media, she received $19 million as part of her divorce settlement with her ex-husband, Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, in 2021. Meanwhile, Sohu reported that Wang left behind a 720-square-meter villa for their two children. Before DJ Koo’s statement, there was also speculation about whether he would inherit any portion of Barbie’s estate.
In response, DJ Koo firmly dismissed these rumors and clarified his stance on Barbie’s assets. He stated his intention to transfer all financial authority to Barbie’s mother, ensuring that the wealth she worked hard to build would remain with her family. He also vowed to take legal action to protect Barbie’s children from any opportunistic individuals.
Ending his message, DJ Koo expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and condolences, pledging to honor Barbie’s memory by safeguarding her loved ones. He signed off with, “Hee-won’s eternal love, Jun-yup.”
