Sampaguita Vendor Breaks Silence Over Incident with Security Guard

Sampaguita Vendor Apologizes to Security Guard

SAMPAGUITA VENDOR VS SECURITY GUARD – The 22-year-old Sampaguita vendor, who gained attention after a viral video involving a security guard, has publicly apologized for the incident.

The confrontation, which occurred outside a mall in Mandaluyong City on December 17, 2024, led to the security guard’s dismissal. In a video released by ABS-CBN News on January 19, 2025, the vendor explained her side of the story, expressing regret over the security guard losing his job but clarifying that she did not want that outcome. She emphasized that it was the mall’s decision, not hers, to terminate the security guard.

The Sampaguita vendor also denied accusations that she cursed or spat at the guard, asserting that she simply wished to apologize. She explained that she had been unfairly portrayed on social media and that the viral video had turned her into a victim of online criticism. She rejected claims that she was begging for money or part of a syndicate, explaining that the cardboard sign she held only said “Namamasko po,” as it was common for people to give small gifts during the holiday season.

In response to questions about her uniform, the vendor explained that she wore her old high school uniform because it was the only clean one she had, as she was a Medical Technology student at St. Jude College. She clarified that it wasn’t an attempt to deceive anyone. “Nagsusuot po ako ng uniform kasi para maging disente sa harap ng tao. At hindi po pagpapanggap yon, totoo naman po akong nag-aaral,” she said.

Despite her apology and attempt to explain the situation, the vendor expressed concern about potential retaliation from the dismissed security guard. She feared that the guard might seek revenge, perhaps by waiting for her outside her school or while she was selling Sampaguita again. The vendor admitted feeling anxious and disturbed by the attention and the exposure of her personal information on social media, emphasizing that she only desired privacy and a peaceful life.

Meanwhile, the security guard has not yet made any public statement regarding the incident.
