A female board exam passer went viral and elicited comments online after choosing boyfriend over her dad for oath-taking.
Recently, a story of family drama has been circulating on Reddit, where a newly licensed professional listed her boyfriend, not her dad, to attend her oath-taking ceremony. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
The story was shared on TikTok by her younger sibling, who showed just how thrilled their dad was when he found out his daughter passed the board exam. He was so proud that he wanted to put up tarpaulins to celebrate her achievement.
The proud father even planned to wear his nicest pair of shoes from abroad to look presentable for her big day. But everything changed when the sister decided to put her boyfriend as the only attendee for the ceremony, which only allowed one guest.
“This is how happy my tatay after my ‘ate’ passed the board exam. He even suggested to make a tarpauling or two (dito sa amin at sa side ni tatay ilalagay),” the uploader said.
Their dad, who had supported her through all her schooling, was crushed. He cried all night, unable to understand why he wasn’t chosen, especially since he was the one who had always been by her side during her milestones.
The heartbroken dad worked hard at a junk shop to provide for them and was always there for the family.
However, the sister felt that her boyfriend deserved the spot because he had helped her during her review. Her decision didn’t sit well with the family, especially when she blocked everyone after the confrontation.
Their parents decided not to attend the ceremony, feeling too hurt by her actions. Despite everything, they still forgave her because, at the end of the day, they’re her parents.
