Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Status of AFP Security Detail Assigned to her
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President revealed her request to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and her plan if her entire security detail is pulled out.
Amid the issues and accusations against her, Vice pres. Duterte claimed that there is a threat to her life. However, both the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) denied its veracity based on their investigation.
Duterte is currently faced with several issues. She recently reiterated her claim about the alleged threat to her life when the National Bureau of Investigation summoned her. The NBI issued a subpoena for Duterte over her remarks against Marcos Jr.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed her final wish is the death of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez if an alleged plot against her life succeeds. The authorities saw the remarks as a national security concern.
The NBI requested Vice Pres. Duterte to appear before them and explain her remarks against the Marcoses and the Speaker. The investigation bureau also vowed to probe her claim regarding the alleged threat to her life. However, she skipped two (2) schedules set for the hearing.
Recently, speaking to the media at a lunch party that the Office of the Vice President (OVP) has organized for the media that covers their office, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed she does not feel secure. According to her, she has also made a request to the Armed Forces of the Philippines regarding her security detail.
“First of all, I told [Brawner] that I will not accept replacements to my old security personnel and just leave whoever will be left with me,” the Vice President said.
According to Duterte, in case the AFP will pull out her entire security detail, she is planning to hire a private security. Based on the report, the Vice President’s husband, Attorney Manases Carpio, can make the arrangements for her.
“If no security personnel will be left with me since… we will seek security arrangements outside the Armed Forces of the Philippines. We are exploring private security services,” Duterte said.
The Vice President claimed that she does not feel secure. Meanwhile, she denied that hiring private security services is tantamount to having her own army.
Recently, amid the issues, Vice Pres. Duterte assured that she will not leave the Philippines if a warrant of arrest will be released against her. She recently skipped the NBI investigation and the bureau refused to take the latter she sent as her sworn statement.
