Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Looks on the Positive Side amid Impeachment Complaints
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President broke her silence on the filing of the impeachment complaints against her.
Countless people were shocked by the recent events involving Vice Pres. Duterte. A House panel has conducted several hearings over the utilization of the Confidential Funds of Duterte’s office or the Office of the Vice President (OVP) as well as the Department of Education’s during her lead.
Aside from the series of hearings that invited several staff members of the OVP, the Vice President is also faced with impeachment complaints. Two (2) impeachment complaints have been filed against her. The first complaint was endorsed by Akbayan Party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña while the other was endorsed by Makabayan bloc Reps. France Castro, Arlene Brosas, and Raoul Manuel.
The filing of the impeachment complaints against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has gathered different reactions but the Vice President herself has been silent about it in the past few days. Despite their rift, Pres. Bongbong Marcos is against the impeachment moves against Duterte.
It was just recently when Vice Pres. Sara Duterte broke her silence on the filing of impeachment complaints against her. Based on a report on Manila Bulletin, the Vice President welcomed the impeachment complaints citing that the complainants have been speaking about it since last year.
“I welcome that finally na-file na ‘yung impeachment case na sinasabi nilang i-file nila since last year pa,” Duterte said.
Based on the report, Duterte breathed a sigh of relief as she will only be the target of the investigation and the staff members of the Office of the Vice President will be spared from it. To recall, there were OVP executives who have fallen ill amid the investigation of the Confidential Funds use of the OVP. Her office’s chief-of-staff, Attorney Zuleika Lopez, even fell ill during her House detention.
“So, okay din ‘yun impeachment case dahil ako lang ang tinitira nila, ako lang ang iniimbestigahan nila, ako lang ang inaatake ng impeachment,” the Vice President said.
When asked about her view on the possibility that the impeachment cases will remove her from office, Vice Pres. Duterte said that the people against her “can always try, but God’s plan will always prevail”.
Recently, one of the biggest churches in the Philippines, the Iglesia ni Cristo or INC, revealed their side on the impeachment moves against Vice Pres. Duterte.
