Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Thanks Professionals Helping OVP Staff Members
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President assured the Filipino people of the strength and resilience of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) “in times of crisis and without resources”.
It is no secret to the public that the Office of the Vice President and VP Sara herself are surrounded by several issues and accusations right now. The House of Representatives question the utilization of the Confidential Funds of the OVP as well as the funds of the Department of Education (DepEd) during Duterte’s term.
A member of the House also confirmed that an impeachment plan is rolling against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. According to ACT Teachers’ Party-List Representative France Castro, there are gathering signatories for the impeachment complaint against the Vice President.
Castro stressed that she is confident that there is an enough number in the House for the success of the impeachment complaint to be sent to the Senate. According to the Representative, they will also check in the Senate on who may possibly support the filing of an impeachment rap against the Vice President.
Amid several issues surrounding Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and the Office of the Vice President, two (2) staff members of Duterte’s fell ill and are currently confined at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center. Atty. Zuleika Lopez, the chief-of-staff of the OVP was cited for contempt and ordered to be detained at the House.
During her detention and amid the order to transfer her to the Correctional Institution for Women, Atty. Lopez fell ill and was rushed to the hospital. Vice Pres. Duterte who spent the night at the House as she was not allowed to accompany Lopez during her detention was one of those who brought the lawyer to the hospital.
During a House hearing, OVP Special Disbursement Officer Gina Acosta also fell ill after her blood pressure level shot up to 150/100 and left her unconscious. She was also brought to the VMMC.
Amid the issues surrounding the OVP, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed her gratitude to the lawyers, doctors, and the other professionals who are helping the staff members “affected by the ongoing crisis in the office”. Based on a report on GMA News, the Vice President stressed that the “legal documents are now with the lawyers”.
Duterte also said that the OVP staff members who are hospitalized are currently “under the expert care of healthcare personnel”. Based on the report, the Vice President stressed that the help of the professionals pave the way for her and the other OVP staff members to focus on their year-end activities.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed that they are also preparing the 2025 Calendar of the office. She assured the Filipino people that her office will continue to be strong in the service of the Filipinos.
“We assure the Filipino people that even in times of crisis and without resources, we shall stand tall, strong and resilient in our service to the Filipino people. We will not break,” Duterte said.
Amid the issues between her and the Vice President, Pres. Bongbong Marcos is not in favor of an impeachment rap against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
