Duterte is requested to appear at the headquarters of the National Bureau of Investigation on Friday. Previously, a legal expert and former president of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) said that the Vice President may face charges over her recent statements. The former IBP President also stressed that only the President has immunity from the charges.

Previously, Vice Pres. Duterte expressed that her remark was “taken out of its logical context”. According to her, what she said “does not constitute to an active threat”. Recently, the Vice President also advised the Filipino people to not base their vote on the popularity or surname of the candidates. The said statement was seen as a possible swipe at House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte also spoke on the issues involving his daughter, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The former Chief Executive expressed his confidence that the Vice President can handle it. According to him, the issues involving his daughter and OVP chief-of-staff Attorney Zuleika Lopez are also “insignificant” and cannot spark a protest against the government.
