DTI Warns Against Fake Highlands Corned Beef

FAKE HIGHLANDS CORNED BEEF – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has issued a warning about counterfeit products, particularly a brand of canned corned beef circulating in the market.

In an advisory, DTI’s Consumer Care division alerted consumers about fake Highlands Corned Beef, some of which have been repacked.

Highlands Corned Beef is a popular brand of canned corned beef in the Philippines, known for its high-quality, ready-to-eat product made from beef. It is commonly used in various Filipino dishes such as corned beef hash, sandwich fillings, and breakfast meals. The brand is produced by CDO Foodsphere, a leading food company in the Philippines, and has gained a reputation for its taste and convenience.

It is available in different variants and packaging sizes, catering to a wide range of consumers. It is widely recognized for its signature flavor and texture, making it a staple in many Filipino households.

The DTI shared images on social media to highlight the differences between genuine and counterfeit products. “Consumers, beware of counterfeit CDO Highlands Corned Beef! For your safety, always verify the product details shown in this photo,” the advisory stated. The DTI also advised buyers to purchase only from authorized retailers, emphasizing that repacked corned beef is counterfeit and not from the reputable brand.

As of press time, the manufacturing company behind corned beef brand has not yet released a statement regarding the matter.

Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is a government agency in the Philippines responsible for promoting and regulating trade, industry, and investments. The DTI’s key functions include ensuring consumer protection, fostering a competitive business environment, supporting entrepreneurship, and regulating the country’s trade and business practices.
