Regine Velasquez and Gloc-9 Disrespected by ABS-CBN Digital Team?
ABS-CBN DIGITAL TEAM – The digital team of the Kapamilya network faced backlash over an art card featuring Asia’s Songbird, Regine Velasquez, and rapper, Gloc-9.
Regine Velasquez-Alcasid is a renowned singer, actress, and television host, often referred to as “Asia’s Songbird” for her powerful vocals and wide vocal range. She rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s and has since become one of the Philippines’ most celebrated performers. Regine is known for her hit songs such as Narito Ako, Pangako, and You Are My Song, as well as her memorable concerts and acting roles. She is married to singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid.
Gloc-9, whose real name is Aristotle Pollisco, is a prominent rapper and songwriter. Known as one of the best in the Philippine hip-hop scene, he is celebrated for his socially conscious and thought-provoking lyrics that tackle themes such as poverty, inequality, and social justice. Some of his famous songs include Sirena, Upuan, and Simpleng Tao. Gloc-9 has received numerous awards for his music and is respected for his contributions to Filipino rap.
The two are currently trending online due to alleged disrespectful treatment from the digital team of the Kapamilya Network. This happened after the release of a promotional art card for presenters at the Myx Music Awards 2024, which included Regine and Gloc-9.
The two, who once collaborated on the song Takipsilim, were among the presenters for the event alongside BINI Jhoanna, BINI Maloi, James Reid, Fyang Smith, Elijah Canlas, Chloe San Jose, Alexa Ilacad, and KD Estrada.
Some netizens couldn’t help but express their frustration over how the two stars were presented. One user on X accused the ABS-CBN Digital Team of making them look like starlets. In response, the digital team of ABS-CBN issued an apology to Regine Velasquez, which she graciously accepted. However, Gloc-9 has yet to confirm whether an apology has been extended to him as well.
