Aegis Requests Respect for Mercy Sunot and Her Family
AEGIS – The OPM band issued a heartfelt appeal urging the public not to believe the false information spreading about Mercy Sunot.
Sunot, one of the lead singers of Aegis, passed away at the age of 48 after battling lung and breast cancer. Before her death, she shared an emotional TikTok video, revealing her health struggles and asking for prayers from her followers. She explained that after undergoing surgery for both breast and lung cancer, she experienced difficulty breathing and was later admitted to the ICU. Doctors found fluid in her lungs and inflammation.
To address these issues, Mercy was treated with steroids to prevent further complications. In her video, she tearfully asked her supporters to pray for her swift recovery, using the hashtags #breastcancerwarrior and #lungcancerwarrior. After her passing, the Aegis band posted an official statement on social media to mourn the loss of the talented singer.
Earlier, Aegis addressed false claims about Mercy on social media. According to the iconic OPM band, Mercy did not engage in any vices, such as smoking or drinking, and Juliet, her sister, had not given any interviews containing negative statements about her sister.
Aegis requested respect, not only for Mercy but also for her family, emphasizing the harmful impact of such misinformation. They pointed out that the pursuit of attention and clicks often leads to a disregard for the dignity of the deceased. Aegis called for reflection and more responsibility when sharing information, asking people to consider the consequences of spreading false news. The OPM band concluded by thanking everyone for their understanding.
As of press time, no details have been disclosed regarding Mercy Sunot’s interment. However, details about it are expected in the following days.
