Woman Shares ‘Shortest First Date’ Experience
45-SECOND FIRST DATE – Maggie Smith, 32, from Auburn, Alabama, USA, had what she called the “shortest first date ever,” lasting only 45 seconds.
In a TikTok video shared on October 3, 2024, Maggie explained how she met a man on a dating app and arranged to meet him in person. When they met outside a restaurant, the man hugged her, asked if she was hungry, and invited her inside. But once they entered, he suddenly told her they should talk outside. Confused, Maggie followed him, and he apologized, saying, “I’m sorry, I’m just not feeling it,” before walking away, leaving Maggie shocked and hurt.
After the incident, Maggie drove home feeling sad, realizing the whole interaction lasted only 45 seconds. She later told a friend about her frustration, who encouraged her to share the story on TikTok. In the video, Maggie thought the man may have been turned off by her weight, but she clarified that her dating profile was honest and showed her true self, with no filters.
Despite the bad experience, Maggie received a lot of support from people online, many of whom shared their own bad date stories. Some, however, accused her of “catfishing,” so Maggie showed her profile to prove she was honest.
Maggie also shared her thoughts on dating in 2024, where apps make it easy to judge people quickly. She said the real problem is treating others kindly, no matter their appearance.
Since the video went viral, Maggie has gained many followers and received offers from brands for collaborations. However, she deleted her dating apps because they were affecting her mental health and now prefers to meet potential dates in person. Despite the attention, her life remains mostly the same as she continues her usual routine and work.
