Vice Ganda Addresses Ion Perez’s Withdrawal from Councilor Race

VICE GANDA – The comedian clarified that he did not persuade his partner, Ion Perez, to withdraw from the 2025 Concepcion, Tarlac councilor race.

In an interview with actor-showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz on November 6, Vice Ganda emphasized that he and Perez do not make decisions for each other. Perez had previously announced his decision to withdraw, stating that he needed time to prepare to serve his constituents effectively.

Vice Ganda explained that their dynamic does not involve one partner directing the other’s choices. “We don’t decide for each other,” he said, adding that while they exchange opinions, the final decisions are made individually. He also assured that he trusts Perez to make the right choices for himself, as he has always respected his partner’s independence.

The comedian further noted that Perez has been involved in public service long before their relationship, having served as a youth leader in Tarlac. Vice Ganda mentioned that he would not be surprised if Perez decided to withdraw from the race, as he knows his partner’s character well. He expressed confidence in Perez’s good heart, stating that his husband would not take the support and trust of the people for granted.

Meanwhile, Perez is an actor, model, and television host best known as “Kuya Escort” in the Miss Q and A segment on It’s Showtime, where he joined as a co-host in 2018. His modeling career began with pageantry wins, including Misters of Filipinas 2017 and Mister Universe Tourism 2018, which opened doors in entertainment.

He has been in a relationship with comedian Vice Ganda since 2018, and they had a commitment ceremony in Las Vegas in 2021. Beyond TV, Perez has also appeared in movies like The Mall, The Merrier and Kaka, and earned recognition as Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 5th Rawr Awards.
